 FEATURES » About Petroglyph
Petroglyph is a game studio based in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was formed in April 2003 by a group of former Westwood Studios employees who had resigned when Electronic Arts merged Westwood Studios into the EA Pacific studios in Los Angeles. Other former Westwood employees initially accepted EA's relocation offer, but returned to Las Vegas later.

On June 25, 2004, they moved into their own building. On November 16, 2004, they announced a project which they were working on and had kept secret: a new Star Wars real-time strategy (RTS) game called Star Wars: Empire at War, which was released on 16 February, 2006. On September 12, 2005, it was announced that they would be working on an original RTS franchise with Sega.

Petroglyph is primarily known for their unusually strong experience in RTS game development. The company's founding members have worked on seminal and influential games in the genre, most notably Command & Conquer. Petroglyph Games' employees average more than 10 years of industry experience.
